What's Wrong with This Picture? (Asylum 1977)

     Per il suo secondo album Andrew Gold si affida alla produzione di Peter Asher, noto per il lavoro svolto con Linda Ronstadt e James Taylor, ottenendo un buon risultato ma non altezza del disco di esordio. Stavolta non tutte le composizioni portano la firma dell'artista, ma sono presenti ben tre cover di pezzi degli anni '60, fra cui "Stay" di Maurice Williams incisa nello stesso anno da Jackson Browne in una versione che surclassa quella qui contenuta. Il disco é ricco perņ anche di episodi perfettamente riusciti, come l'iniziale e movimentata "Hope you feel good", alcune belle ballate come "Passing thing", "Firefly" e "One of them is me" e due brani orecchiabili e simpatici come "Must be crazy" e "Lonely boy". Impossibile perciņ parlare male di questo lavoro, che rimane sempre un buon disco di musica west coast, da acquistare preferibilmente insieme al primo album dell'artista.
