Cut The Cake (Atlantic 1975)

     Dopo il grande successo ottenuto con il precedente disco omonimo, la Average White Band si ripete nel 1975 con un lavoro eccellente, ben accolto dalla critica e vendutissimo al pubblico. L'album, il primo con il batterista Steve Ferrone dopo la morte di Robbie McIntosh, contiene grandi pezzi funky-soul alternati ad eleganti ballate, rese splendidamente dalla particolare voce di Hamish Stuart. Tra i brani, in evidenza le ritmatissima "Cut the cake" e il medio tempo "Why", mentre tra i lenti é la dolcissima "Cloudy" a seguire le orme del soul pił morbido. Da segnalare anche la presenza di un brano scritto da Leon Ware, grande autore e cantante di musica soul californiana, il notevole "If I ever lose this heaven" gią ascoltato l'anno prima su "Body Heat" di Quincy Jones.
