Average White Band

Benny and Us (Atlantic 1977)

     La Average White Band si ripresenta con un lavoro molto particolare, in comproprietà con il cantante soul Ben E. King che é il lead vocalist in tutti i brani del disco. Nell'album infatti i componenti della band si limitano a suonare e ai controcanti e quasi tutti i pezzi sono delle cover di altri artisti ("Get it up for love" di Ned Doheny e "Imagine" di John Lennon) o della stessa band come "Keepin' it to myself" già presente sul disco omonimo del 1974. I brani meglio riusciti sono però, a mio parere, "Fool for you anyway" di Mick Jones e il capolavoro di Donny Hathaway "Someday we'll all be free". Un disco da possedere solo per chi vuol avere tutto della Average White Band.
