Average White Band

Soul Tatoo (Irma 1996/Foundation 1997)

     L'Average White Band si ripresenta sul mercato discografico con un ottimo disco dopo otto anni dal precedente lavoro che era onestamente bruttino. Tra i componenti del gruppo mancano il cantante Hamish Stuart e il batterista Steve Ferrone ma il sound della band non ne risente e, malgrado qualche inevitale ammodernamento dei suoni, ne esce un prodotto veramente gustoso fatto di brani ritmati e leggermente funky e di sofisticate ballate. Nel disco tra gli ospiti figura anche Daryl Hall che partecipa a questo ritorno veramente gradito di una grande band degli anni '70. Da segnalare che originariamente il cd esce in Italia nel 1996 per la Irma Records e poi viene ristampato l'anno successivo dalla Foundation con copertina diversa ed ordine dei brani variato.
