Lani Hall

Blush (A&M 1980)

     Nel 1980 Lani Hall pubblica quello che é l'album più legato alla musica pop californiana. Un disco ricchissimo di grandi musicisti e vocalist, con brani scritti da autori del calibro di Greg Phillinganes, David Lasley, Lauren Wood e Bruce Roberts. Alcuni pezzi sono ottimi come "Where's your angel?" di Phillinganes, "Only you" di Roberts e la versione originale di "In the dark" di Lauren Wood, poi ricantata l'anno successivo dalla stessa autrice nell'album "Cat Trick". Buoni anche "Ain't got nothin' for me", "Wish I would've stayed" e "Love me again", mentre é presente qualche caduta di tono nella mielosa ballata "Come what may", cantata in duetto con il marito Herb Alpert ed anche nella languida "I don't want you to go". Nel complesso un lavoro sicuramente piacevole, non un capolavoro ma un disco da possedere.
