Michael Johnson

Dialogue (EMI America 1979)

     Visto il buon successo ottenuto con il disco precedente, Michael Johnson prosegue sulla strada del raffinato pop californiano con maggior convinzione. Gran parte dell'album é infatti composto da brani firmati da Bill LaBounty, Randy Goodrum e Tom Snow più qualche altra interessante composizione di Robert Byrne e Parker McGee. Di LaBounty troviamo la cover di "This night won't last forever", title-track dell'album del 1978, e l'inedita "Drops of water", che viene però pubblicata dal suo autore sempre nel 1979 in "Rain in My Life". Tom Snow firma ben tre pezzi, tra i quali l'ottima "Let this be a lesson to you" mentre Randy Goodrum contribuisce con due piacevoli ballate come "The very first time" e "Doors". Da notare anche la presenza di "She put the sad in all songs" scritta da Robert Byrne e contenuta nel suo "Blame It on the Night" (1979), e la cover di "I just can't say no to you" di Parker McGee, presa dal suo album omonimo del 1976.
