You Can Call Me Blue (EMI America 1980)

     Nel 1980 esce "You Can Call Me Blue", che probabilmente rappresenta il miglior lavoro pubblicato da Michael Johnson. Anche questo album é composto completamente da brani di altri artisti, ma questa volta la maggior parte sono inediti ed alcuni veramente belli. Il disco parte subito bene con la notevole title-track scritta da Larry Brown e prosegue con altri tre ottimi pezzi come "After you" di Andy Goldmark, "Savin' it up" di Randy Goodrum e "You, you, you" di Tom Snow. Snow, l'autore pił prolifico, é rappresentato da altre tre buone canzoni come "Blame it on the rain", "Staying with it" (incisa nello stesso anno anche dai Firefall) e "You sure fooled me", mentre Robert Byrne scrive la bella "Right through the heart", che entrerą poi a far parte del disco pubblicato nel 1981 a nome di Byrne & Barnes. Da segnalare anche "Don't ask why", notevole ballata composta espressamente per questo album da Bill LaBounty, che é presente anche come musicista.
