Stills Feels Good (Warner Bros. 1981)

     Vedendo il nome di Michael Omartian come produttore si potrebbe pensare che il secondo lavoro di Tom Johnston sia un album più pop rispetto al precedente disco. Invece non é così e la smentita arriva subito con l'iniziale e tiratissima "Madman" a cui fanno seguito una serie di brani non proprio di facile ascolto per chi ama il lato più melodico del sound californiano. Ci sono però alcune eccezioni e precisamente le interessanti "Baby, take me in" ed "Up on the stage", più orecchiabili ed in perfetto stile Doobie Brothers, ed anche "Wishing", discreta ballata dalle influenze country. Il disco però risulta complessivamente meno riuscito di "Everything you've heard is true" (1979) ma merita comunque l'ascolto, soprattutto se avete amato i primi lavori dei Doobie Brothers.
